October is International Walk to School Month, when pupils around the globe celebrate the benefits of walking and wheeling to school.

There are many reasons why we choose to drive our cars instead of using active travel (walking, scooting, cycling). International Walk to School Month gives us a chance to think about those reasons and to explore the opportunities and possibilities to change. Over the next month we will be exploring the benefits of active travel and the reasons we love our cars so much. We invite you to join in our discussions and explore how we can make Alwoodley and ACE Primary a safer, healthier place to be.

Earlier this week you may have noticed two PCSOs and two Police Officers along with four ACE children outside the school encouraging drivers to comply with road safety and rules, reminding motorists to park safely and to switch off their engines rather than leaving their engines running. No tickets were issued!
