Water is essential for life, including the wildlife that visits our gardens. It is used for drinking and for bathing. If you want to attract wildlife and help it to flourish then providing a suitable watering hole will help.
Your watering hole can be a tiny puddle or a huge pond. There are several websites that give very helpful advice on how to provide a suitable water source depending on the size of your garden but once you introduce water you can see amazing results.
Not many of you will have a huge piece of land and a JCB but I found this video quite inspiring as it shows how much good a small pond can do if it is built in an appropriate place.
Having a water feature and putting out bird food is a great way to attract birds – why not take part in this years Big Garden Birdwatch on 22-24 January?
