Today, the Environment Group took a tour of our “plant rooms” with Mr Carter. These are not rooms where we grow plants but they are the rooms where the heating and electricity for our school buildings are controlled. We have three plant rooms and the pipework, boilers and wires look very complicated. Mr Carter explained to us how the boilers burn natural gas to heat the water for the taps and for the heating.
Over the next few weeks we will be looking at how we can save energy around school so that we don’t burn as much gas and we reduce our carbon footprint.
