Well done everyone!

We have been provided with a report that shows how our travel to school has changed since we started the project. Before we started recording our Walk to School campaign we took a “baseline” survey which is shown in grey in the chart below.

  • We have managed to reduce car use from 50% of journeys to 15% and this has been very noticeable outside the school, particularly on Nursery Lane, with positive comments from local people.
  • There has been a big increase in Park and Stride with children being driven part way to school and walking the rest of the way. This helps to reduce congestion around the school and hopefully is making it safer and the air cleaner as well as providing more exercise for the children.
  • There have been increases in walking and human powered wheeled transport which is very encouraging.

We will be continuing to run the Travel Tracker this half term and would encourage you all to maintain your efforts in changing your methods of travel to cleaner, healthier, more environmentally friendly ones.
